5 tips for self care during Gemini season

There are some astrological seasons that can be overwhelming. If you find yourself overstimulated, easily distracted, or attached to your phone right now, you may be struggling with Gemini season. As a Gemini stellium and an astrologer, I have a lot of experience navigating this and helping people through it. Here are a 5 tips that help me and my clients.

1. Give your brain a way to process

As an air sign, there’s a lot of noise, and chatter. Gemini needs a way to process and find its own voice. Personally, I think of it like mental word vomit. I just need to get the thoughts out of my head and it can really help me calm down and be more present. Some ways to do this include:

  • Journaling

    • Whether you love to free write or bullet journal, getting thoughts on the page can be incredibly freeing.

  • Voice memos or videos

    • Hate writing? Why not use your phone to let yourself talk it out? You can always delete it later.

  • Mind mapping

    • If you want some freedom in how you put your ideas together, this can be great. And there are lots of tools you can use for this like Miro or Lucidchart

  • Art or photo journaling

    • Another great way to get beyond words. Express your mood and thoughts in a photo or perhaps a collage.

  • Music playlist

    • Identify a song or list of them that match your mood/feeling

2. Embrace a hand focused hobby

Did you know that Gemini sign is associated with the arms/hands? If you’re especially finding yourself doom scrolling, this can be a great way to help you unplug and decompress. Not sure where to start? Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Origami or paper crafts

  • Pottery or playing with clay

  • Juggling

  • Legos

  • Puzzles

  • Coloring

3. Try some new herbs

Did you know that some plants are associated with specific signs and planets? You can use these plants as well to support you through Gemini season. This could include growing them, using essential oils, or making herbal teas.

Some Gemini plants include:

  • Lavender

  • Dill

  • Parsley

  • Anise

  • Marjoram

Personally, I love making lavender tea after a long day of writing. I’ve also been loving this chickpea parsley salad too.

FYI: Please consult your medical practitioners before applying plants to your body or ingesting them. Just because a plant is natural doesn’t mean it can’t have potential interactions.

4. Learn something new

Gemini is known for being curious and life long learners. As a mutable air sign, it might not be the best time to commit to 2 year course. It’s a better season for a shorter attention span. Some ways you could do this:

  • Podcasts.

    • I love the allusionist. It’s all about language and the various ways it shows up in our lives (perfect for Gemini season!)

  • Online tutorials

    •  Did you know Harvard has a bunch of classes online for free? There’s an omens class that looks fascinating.

  • Pick up a book on the topic

    • So many good choices are at your local library (or borrow through Libby or Hoopla!).

  • Make TV time for learning

    • I’m loving the history of food and cooking recipes from Max Miller.

One of the best things about the internet is that we now have so many ways to learn without breaking the bank.

What have you wanted to learn more about? Think about it as getting a taste versus deeply committing right now. Gemini truly embraces being a jack of all trades over a master of one.

5. Support your natal Mercury

This is a little more advance. Basically, Mercury is the ruler of Gemini. When Mercury is supported, it’s more able to support Gemini and any planets that are hanging out in the sign (and right now there are a lot of planets there!)

Imagine you have friends at your house but you’re burnt out and broke. It doesn’t matter how much you love those friends, you’re not gonna be able to offer them much while they’re there.

So how do you support your Mercury? Look at your natal Mercury and especially focus on the sign and house. If your Mercury is in the 9th house, focusing on spirituality, foreign places, or philosophy may be a great match. Or, if your Mercury is in a water sign, taking time to lean into learning more about emotions might be more interesting to you.
